The Ventura Pier was built around 1872. The pier cost about $45,000 to build and considered the longest wooden. In 1942 the pier was hit by a ship. The pier had to be fixed. In 1917, it was rebuilt to a length of 1,700 ft. In 1995, the pier was reinforced with steel pilings after a portion of it was destroyed by a storm.
Surfer’s Point is a well-known area where surfers love to go because of the quality and the conditions of the water. This area is located near the fairgrounds.
